You can choose domestic or exotic hardwoood flooring to add value and character to your home.

Why Hardwood?

Hardwood flooring is environmentally friendly because it is a natural resource. Unlike most floor coverings, hardwood flooring is sustainable. Today, most hardwood flooring timber is cut from forests that are carefully managed to ensure sustainability. The Lacey Act was put into place so that every tree that is cut down can be tracked back to it’s point of origin. This initiative is one of the ways the industry has fought back on unethical practices such as illegal harvesting. Hardwood flooring adds real value to your house when you go to sell.

Domestic Hardwoods

Domestic hardwood flooring is harvested in the United States. Oak, maple, and hickory hardwoods are plentiful in the U.S. Many of the older homes and traditional neighborhoods choose the domestic hardwoods. The country like feel and character is a long time favorite for many people. For those homeowners who still desire the exotic hardwood look, you can get the best of both worlds. Recently, many manufacturers are mimicking the exotic hardwood look with domestic hardwood. Due to the cost effectiveness and minimal environmental impact, we promote domestic brands that are “Made in the USA.”

Exotic Hardwoods

Exotic hardwoods are harvested in other countries around the world. Brazilian Cherry, Cumaru, and Tigerwood are some examples of hardwood that is harvested overseas. Exotics are typically harder than domestic hardwoods and have more color variation. They are extremely popular because of their color variation but are getting harder to attain due to the costs of importing.
